Zaynab bint-e-Khuzayma (R.A.) was married to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) in Ramadan, 4 AH, soon after his (Peace be upon him) marriage to Hafsa (R.A.).
After she (R.A.) became widow, when her (R.A.) husband was martyred at the battle of Badr. She (R.A.) offered herself in marriage to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) who accepted her (R.A.) proposal and married her (R.A.). Zaynab bint-e-Khuzayma (R.A.) was so generous to orphans and the poor that she (R.A.) came to be
known as the ‘Mother of the Poor’. She (R.A.) died only eight months after her (R.A.) marriage and although not a great deal is known about her (R.A.) today, there
will be many who will testify to her (R.A.) generosity on the Last Day. And she (R.A.) is our mother as Allah says in the Holy Quran:
The Prophet (Peace be upon him) is closer to the believers than their ownselves, and his wives are as their mothers. (Quran: 33:6)
